It's astonishing how many different animal species we saw in such a short time in Costa Rica. All in the wild; often in mundane places and unexpected situations. You can tell that the wildlife here is well protected and can live without worry. Pura Vida!

Costa Rica is a paradise for animal watching. So many different species that are relatively easy to spot.

Valchiavenna is a gem for outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation, offering numerous activity options year-round. The Campanile Nero Apartments are the perfect base for you – quiet and secluded, yet centrally located.

Minca. A small town in the middle of the jungle, yet only an hour's drive from the coast. It's not just the natural beauty that's appealing, but also the somewhat more pleasant nighttime temperatures of just over 20 degrees Celsius.

After a few weeks in the Colombian highlands, we now want to head towards the Caribbean coast. Micha, in particular, has been looking forward to the sea for months.

Our next destination is Jardín, one of Colombia's most important bird sanctuaries. We've heard from several fellow travelers that it's supposed to be very beautiful here. Micha is particularly keen to photograph the endemic Andean cock-of-the-rock – at least that one.

Our journey continues in Colombia; we travel on to the Tatacoa Desert and then to the Cafetero region, and of course we also visit the Cocora Valley.
