Freeride Julier Pass

For me, the Julier Pass is one of the most beautiful passes. When I drove it for the first time 4 years ago, I was blown away by this high alpine landscape in Engadin, Switzerland. In winter it has its very own magic. Convince yourself.

And it is also the starting point for numerous freeride tours. With its peak height of 2,284 m above sea level, snow is guaranteed from November to April. You can stop at almost any corner along the route and take a tour to the left or right of the road. The possibilities are endless. And parking spaces are always available. It's just a pity that staying overnight here in the Ela Nature Park is strictly forbidden, otherwise we would probably snowboard, sleep, snowboard, sleep and repeat :-) On the other hand, of course, it's also good - nature is protected and comes to rest.

A great freeride is to Piz Surgonda. It is fabulous as far as the panorama is concerned. Uphill you have a view of the numerous 3,000m peaks around, downhill the Julier Pass, which meanders through the landscape. The profile is relatively easy, the slopes are open and the ascent is mostly flat. The tour is also well suited for snowboarders, only now and then you have to make sure you have enough speed :-) If you want to find out more, the route is described here on my page about the Valchiavenna.

But now there are still a few impressions of it.
